Equivalent Vectors
What are Equivalent Vectors?
Two vectors are considered equivalent (or equipollent) if they are parallel and have the same magnitude (length) and direction.
Since they're parallel, these vectors also share the same orientation.
What sets them apart is their point of application, which is where the arrow originates.
From a geometric standpoint, equivalent vectors are represented by congruent directed line segments.
Why are they called equivalent?
Equivalent vectors are just two of the countless representations of the same vector. This is because one can always superimpose one vector onto the other.
The collection of all such equivalent vectors is termed a geometric vector.
